Therefore, people traveling to these countries often decide to explore Laos as well, so tourism is becoming a fast-growing industry in the country.
The Laotian government offers different types of tourist visa options for travelers interested in traveling to Laos. The type of visa a traveler can apply for, depends on his/her nationality, their time of travel and the duration of their stay in Laos. Laos eVisa Requirements for Citizens of Austria
Currently, there are 150 countries including those in North America, Australia, and the European Union, whose citizens are allowed to acquire an eVisa prior to their arrival in Laos.
Austrian citizens are eligible to apply for the Laos eVisa. In order to do so, Austrian citizens will need to ensure they meet certain basic eligibility requirements for obtaining a Laos eVisa. These requirements include:
- Having a valid passport
- Having a valid email address
- Having a valid debit/credit card for payment
- A recent color photograph of the applicant
Passport and Document Requirements for Laos
Travelers will also need to take the following documents with them when they travel to Laos in order to be allowed into the country:
- Passport validity that extends 6 months from the date of arrival in the country.
- A Recent passport-sized color photograph of the applicant.
- A printed copy of the Laos eVisa approval letter.
- Additional Documents if required.
If the applicant is unable to submit the additional documents to the website while completing the eVisa application, he/she will have the opportunity to submit those documents at a later time. This is due to the fact that the applicant is sent a confirmation email once the eVisa application has been submitted which contains a link that allows the applicant to submit the additional documents.
Laos eVisa Application Process for Austrian Citizens
Austrian travelers are eligible to apply for a Laotian eVisa. This means that Austrian citizens do not need to visit a Laos embassy or consulate in order to obtain a visa for Laos. The eVisa application process for Austrian citizens takes places online and can be completed with a few minutes if the applicant has all the necessary documents in place. Passport validity is the most important factor. Therefore, all travelers must make sure they have the required passport validity before applying for the Laos eVisa. Travelers will also have to pay a processing fee for the eVisa application using a valid debit/credit card in order to have the application processed.
Austrian travelers should ensure that they have ample time to complete the online eVisa application so as to receive their Laos eVisa in time for their travel. It is best to apply for the eVisa at least 7 days before the traveler’s intended date of departure for Laos. This way, any delays caused by additional processing that may be required on the application, or documents that need to be submitted can be accounted for.
Typically, it takes up to 3 business days for the applicant to receive their Laos eVisa after submitting the completed online eVisa application along with any additional documents that might be required.
How to Apply for a Laos eVisa for Austrian Citizens
Austrian citizens can begin applying for the Laos eVisa by accessing the Laos Online eVisa website. On the main page, there is a link that allows them to begin filling out the online application with personal details and necessary passport information.
All applicants must ensure that the information on the online Laos eVisa application form matches the information on their passport. Otherwise, this can result in a rejected eVisa application or a denial of entry into Laos in some cases.
After the traveler submits the completed Laos eVisa application, he/she will receive the Laos eVisa via email. The traveler will need to take a printed copy of the eVisa with them to be allowed entry into Laos.

The Laos eVisa is valid for a single-entry into Laos for a stay of up to 30 days. Once the traveler receives the Laos eVisa approval letter, he/she will be able to enter Laos from one of 2 entry points:

If the traveler intends to stay longer in Laos or visit the country multiple times, than they would have to obtain a Laos Tourist visa for a Laotian embassy or consulate.
