The Laos government has recently introduced an electronic travel authorization system called the Laos eVisa Approval Letter which allows the citizens of 150 countries including India, to apply for a Laos eVisa online. This measure is aimed at making it easier for travelers to visit Laos and to support/strengthen the country’s tourism industry.
There are multiple advantages for travelers to apply for a Laos eVisa. One of the main reasons for travelers to consider applying for a Laos eVisa is that it is quick and convenient application process that takes place online. Travelers can simply fill out their details in the online application and receive their eVisa within a few days’ time. It also allows the travelers to avoid having to go to a local Lao embassy or consulate and stand in long lines in order to get their eVisa.
The Laos eVisa is primarily for people intending to visit the country for tourism or for visits to relatives living in the country. It is appropriate for short visits to the country. For longer stays in the country, travelers are encouraged to look through other types of visas offered by the Laos government and apply for one that is most appropriate for their travel needs.
Laos eVisa Application Instructions from India
In order for Indian citizens to apply for a Laos eVisa, they will have to access the Laotian Online eVisa website over the internet. On the main page, they will be able to locate a link that opens the online application for them. This application will ask the travelers to enter some biographical information such as name, date of birth, age, gender, address etc. as well as some important passport information such as passport number and date of expiration.
Travelers may also be required to submit some additional information, such as information about vaccinations they have had, countries they have traveled to, proof of sufficient funds to cover the trip etc. Travelers will also be asked about any criminal history they might have as well.
The Laos eVisa application must be filled out with accurate information being careful to avoid any mismatch between the information on the form and that on the traveler’s passport. Failure to do so can result in an eVisa application that gets rejected leading to the traveler having to fill out a new application with the correct information.
There is also a processing fee associated with applying for the Laos eVisa online that the traveler will have to pay using a valid debit/credit card. The traveler will also get a chance to review the information he/she has entered on the form before submitting it.
Travelers also have the opportunity to update or modify the information they have entered in the eVisa application form using a link that is sent to them via email when they begin filling out the application.
Travelers should apply for the Laos eVisa at least 7 days before their intended departure for Laos bearing in mind that it can take up to 3 business days for their eVisa to arrive via email after they submit the application.
