eVisa Requirements for Irish Citizens

Laos eVisa for Irish citizens

The Laos eVisa is a quick and simple way for travelers to gain access to the country of Laos.

This eVisa is a single-entry visa that allows the traveler to stay up to 30 days in the country. Please note that the Laos eVisa allows the traveler to enter the country in one of the two points of entry listed below:

  • Wattay International Airport
  • Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge I

An alternative to the Laos eVisa is the Visa on Arrival (also known as VOA). To obtain this type of visa, Irish travelers will have to complete a visa on arrival application at any of the 22 ports of entry that are scattered across Laos. Along with the application, travelers will need to submit 2 recent passport-sized color photographs as well as cash for the application fee. The downsides of obtaining a visa on arrival is that travelers will need to stand in long lines and spend more time. For these two reasons, we recommend applying for the eVisa beforehand.

Apply Online for the eVisa to Laos From Ireland

Travelers can expect to enjoy many benefits when they apply for a Laos visa for Irish citizens. To begin with, the process of applying for the eVisa is very fast and only takes a few minutes to finish. The best part is that it can be done from the comfort of the traveler’s home or office. Secondly, travelers do not need to visit or wait in long lines at their local embassy in order to obtain a visa.

How can citizens of Ireland apply for the eVisa to Laos?

Irish travelers that wish to apply for a Laos electronic visa can do so by starting an online application through the Laos eVisa website.

The eVisa application will ask the applicant a few basic questions about themselves, such as their full name (first and last name), date of birth, age, gender, and contact information (email, home address, and telephone). The application will also have a section that asks for passport information, such as the applicant’s passport number and date of expiration. This is very important because applicants must have at least six months of validity on their passport from the date that they plan to enter Laos. At the end of the application, applicants will need to answer a couple of basic security questions.

Applicants should note that the information they write on their Laos eVisa application form must be accurate and match their actual information. It is very important to double check the application after it has been filled out to make sure that everything is correct and accurate. If there is even one single piece of inaccurate information or a mismatch, the entire eVisa application will be rejected. In this situation, applicants will need to start a new application with the correct information if they wish to receive a Laos eVisa.

Once applicants have double checked the information on their application and are satisfied, they will be prompted to pay the application fee. Once the application has been submitted, it takes about one business day to process, but may take up to four days during peak season. We recommend applying for the Laos eVisa at least one week before the trio in order to ensure that it is processed in a timely manner.
