Laos online visa application from Japan
Obtaining a Laos eVisa is fast and easy. We encourage applying for the eVisa in advance so that there are no delays and that travelers can have a stress-free experience. Travelers can do so by obtaining a visa on arrival (also known as a VOA), or take the easier route and apply online.
The first step is to start the Japanese visa application for Laos. This application should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and will ask for the traveler’s personal details, including their full name, passport information, and a quick overview of their travel itinerary. The second section ask a handful of basic security and health-related questions. During the application, it is imperative to give a valid email address, as this is where notifications and the eVisa will be sent after it is approved. After the application is complete, we recommend that applicants double-check and make sure that all of the information is correct and complete.
The average processing time of the Laos eVisa is approximately one day. However, in rare cases it may take up to four days if there is high demand. The approved eVisa will be sent to the email address that was written during the application process. Before traveling to Laos, we recommend that all Japanese citizens print their approved Laos eVisa and have a copy available to show to the immigration officer when they arrive.
The second option to obtain a Laos eVisa is known as the visa on arrival. To obtain a visa on arrival, Japanese travelers will need to arrive at the airport and wait in a separate queue.
Oftentimes, this means standing in line for long periods of time, needing to take additional paperwork to show to the border officers, and take time out of the traveler’s itinerary to fill out extra application forms.
In order to expedite this process, the Laos government has implemented the eVisa program.
The eVisa process makes everything much simpler and faster. There’s no need to waste precious time at customs and immigration – travelers can simply show their approved eVisa and start their vacation sooner.
How long is the Laos eVisa for Japanese citizens valid for?
The Laos eVisas are single entry visas and are valid for a maximum of two months from the date of approval. When the traveler enters Laos, they are allowed to stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days. If the traveler wishes to stay longer, he or she can extend their visa by contacting the relevant authorities at the immigration office.
