Laos Approval Letter: Requirements for Turkish

In recent years international travelers visiting Laos have increased significantly, reaching 4.2 million arrivals in 2018. which includes a significant amount of Turkish citizens.

Since the implementation of the Laos eVisa, or Laos Approval Letter, the local government allows eligible foreign tourists to enter the country smoothly and most importantly avoid visits to Laos embassies and consulates.

Along with 150 other countries, Turkey is eligible to apply for the Laos electronic visa. Turkish nationals can apply from anywhere in the world with just a working internet connection and all the valid documents required.

Laos eVisa Application Steps for Turkish Applicants

When starting the online application, Turkish applicants must first meet a series of Laos eVisa entry requirements that include having an active email account, a valid Turkish passport, a digital copy of the passport’s biographical page, and a digital photograph of the applicant of Turkey.

Finally, Turkish travelers must also have a debit or credit card to pay for the e-Visa application fees.

Once the online form is completed, Turkish citizens will need to answer personal questions about their identity and background.

Some of the personal questions include first and last names, age, gender, and nationality. Additional information such as an address, phone number, and email is also required.

Passport details filled in must include passport number, date issued, and its expiration date. The Turkish passport must hold a 6-month validity from the date of entry in Laos.

During the Laos application process, the requester from Turkey must upload a digital passport photo, which must be taken with a white or light-colored background, and follow the Laos eVisa photo ID guidelines in order to be accepted.

Security questions are also a part of the application process for the Laos Approval Letter, as well as health conditions about the Turkish passenger.

Laos eVisa Processing Time and Validity

When approved, the Laos eVisa has a 60-day validity period since it is issued. The Laos Approval Letter is a single-entry visa, which means Turkish holders can only enter the country once within the validity period.

The country also provides business visas to those Turkish nationals that desire to visit Laos for business matters, conferences, courses, or meetings. This type of travel authorization, however, must be requested directly at a Laos embassy or consulate.

Traveling from Turkey to Laos is a relatively smooth process especially for those traveling with an Approval Letter. The average traveling time is 9 hours and the air distance between the two countries is 4,575 miles (7,363 km).

All entry ports will require the same documentation: valid Turkish passports, and the Laos eVisa or Approval Letter. The travel permit is advised to have it printed out and carried with at all times.
